For Immediate Release, February 26, 2002 Affinium Pharmaceuticals, formerly Integrative Proteomics: New Name Reflects Strategic Focus of Integrated, Structure Guided Drug Discovery TORONTO, ONTARIO (February 26, 2002) Integrative Proteomics, Inc., a leader in structure guided drug discovery, announced today that it is changing the Company name to Affinium Pharmaceuticals. The name was approved by the Corporations Board of Directors at its quarterly meeting, and the change is effective immediately. "Our new name more accurately reflects the Companys strategic focus of integrated, structure guided drug discovery, said Dr. John D. Mendlein, Chairman and CEO. "Our internal structure guided drug discovery process has been substantially advanced in the last quarter, including world class senior hires in drug discovery and integration of new chemistries for lead optimization. By expanding our discovery leadership and forming strategic alliances with partners who both share our vision and complement our expertise, we are able to speed drug design to create a hyper productive discovery pipeline. The new name reflects both what we do and how we do it. Affinium Pharmaceuticals is a structure guided drug discovery company. The Companys proprietary, integrated drug discovery process is designed for rapid advancement of small molecule programs from gene to clinic. Affinium is actively engaged on its own internal small molecule programs. The Companys processes enable high throughput target production, determination of target function/structure, and determination of target structure with bound hits and leads to accelerate chemistry for new medicines. The Company also integrates the premier discovery capabilities of Aurora Biosciences to advance Affiniums internal drug discovery efforts. Affiniums processes feature mass spectrometry, NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography technologies from Bruker Daltonics (Nasdaq: BDAL), Bruker BioSpin and Bruker AXS (Nasdaq: BAXS), respectively.
